Needle Felting Tests

This was an attempt to create conductive felt and explore insulation techniques. Needle felting stainless steel roving is quite different from wool roving: it bunches rapidly, making it a bit unwieldy, and becomes difficult to penetrate after a few pokes. Initially, I treated it as regular roving, felting it in big bunches. A better tactic is to include small amounts of the conductive in with the wool if you are trying to construct a sensor OR to felt in your traces in thin lines. I tried to be purist here and *only* use conductive roving: I don’t recommend it for practical purposes (it would be much easier to connect the LED with conductive thread), but it was a fun and challenging experiment!

On another note, the mat on which you felt is extremely important: I tried one that was brush-like and another that was foam. I much prefer the latter.
